Leafwise is a small, independent website about indoor plant care. It is written and maintained by the site owner — a houseplant enthusiast who started keeping plants seriously a few years ago, made the usual mistakes, and built this site to share what actually works in an ordinary home with ordinary light.
How we write
Every guide is based on growing the plant ourselves, in normal room conditions — not in a greenhouse and not copied from a product page. When we say "water when the top 3 cm of soil is dry," it's because that's what kept our plants alive. Where conditions change the answer, we say so, because plants are not one-size-fits-all.
Our standards
- Experience first. Advice comes from plants we've actually kept, propagated and sometimes lost.
- Cross-checked, not invented. Care details are checked against reputable horticultural sources — university extension services and botanical garden guides — and we correct pages when we get something wrong.
- Updated when we learn better. Each page shows its last update date. A method that changes gets a page that changes.
- No pay-to-rank. We never accept payment to call a product "best," and we do not currently use affiliate links. Any future referral links would be clearly marked and would never drive the advice.
Who's behind it
Leafwise is run by one person, not a company. There is no invented "expert team" — just hands-on trial and error, a lot of reading, and a genuine interest in helping plants (and their owners) do better. If a guide is unclear or wrong, that's on us, and you can tell us at [email protected].
A note on safety
We flag plants that are toxic to cats and dogs. We are not doctors or vets — for any health concern from handling or ingesting a plant, contact a professional.Contact
